Exciting plans are well underway to install three brand new play areas in the borough in time for spring.
Funding from Corby Borough Council, Towns Fund and FCC Communities Foundation has allowed us to develop plans to replace the old, dated play areas at the Corby Boating Lake and Wharfedale Road as well as install a new ship at Glastonbury Road play area to replace the one that was damaged beyond repair following an act of vandalism.
The Boating Lake play area is one that is has been used by residents from all over the borough for many years and we are very excited to introduce the new and improved replacement play area for our younger generation!
This play area underwent extensive consultation with over 800 responses from children and parents that has helped decide the final design which includes lots of features that children are going to love. ‘Under the sea/Pirates’ was the winning theme for the Boating Lake and a hand cycle and seated bike will also be added on the town walkway, along-side the other existing fitness equipment.
Corby Borough Council’s Lead Member for Community, Cllr John McGhee, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted that work on our new play areas is underway and following a difficult year, I’m so excited to see children enjoy themselves just as they deserve.
“Corby Borough Council understands the importance of how play and play areas can impact on our children’s wellbeing.
“Play areas are incredibly expensive and we thank all our partners, Public and Private sector over the many years in helping raise the funds to upgrade our plays areas.”
