The Mayor of Corby, Cllr Mohammed Rahman, presented a cheque to the Northants 4x4 Response yesterday (Tuesday 11th December) thanks to generous donations from the people of Corby.
Northants 4x4 Response are a registered charity who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this month. The charity provides support to the emergency and essential services in the county during severe weather when roads are impassable to all but four wheel drive vehicles or when transport is required across rough terrain.
The Mayor of Corby was able to present the charity with a cheque for over £1,000 which was raised at Corby Borough Council’s annual Bonfire and Firework display earlier this year.
A representative from the Northants 4x4 Response, said:
“The kind donations from the people of Corby will be used to further train and equip the team’s volunteers to keep both them and their passengers safe and warm when deployed in conditions where most people would prefer to stay indoors.”
Mayor of Corby, Cllr Mohammed Rahman, said:
“It was a pleasure to present this cheque on behalf of Corby Borough Council. The Northants 4x4 Response charity is made up of volunteers, who donate their time and use their own vehicles to transport nurses, carers and others to where they need to be in adverse weather conditions. Thanks to these volunteers, those services that many of us rely on can still be maintained whatever the weather.”
