Release Date:
Thursday, May 18, 2017 - 17:30

Time is ticking until the General Election takes place on Thursday 8th June and now is your last chance to make sure you can cast your vote.

Residents have until Monday 22nd May to register to vote by going to www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. PLEASE NOTE if you are already registered to vote you do not need to re-register for this particular election. If you have a change in your circumstances or move address then you may need to contact the Election Office for further assistance.

If you think you are going to be away on Thursday 8 June 2017, now is the time to consider how you can get your vote across in this election.

Postal Votes will be sent to Electors around the 25th and 30th May 2017, dependent on when you requested to have a postal vote. If this may be too late for you or you think you are going to be away in June you will need to think about arranging a Proxy Vote.

To arrange a proxy vote (Someone voting in a polling station on your behalf) you should download an application to vote by proxy from www.yourvotematters.co.uk. The deadline to arrange/amend a proxy vote closes at 5pm on Wednesday 31 May 2017.

To arrange a postal vote you should download an application to vote by post from www.yourvotematters.co.uk. The deadline to amend an existing postal vote arrangement or request a postal vote closes at 5pm on Tuesday 23 May 2017.
