Workplace Challenge - Northamptonshire Sport is actively encouraging workplaces to sign up in 2016 to the Workplace Challenge. After a successful first year, the Workplace Challenge was launched again in January 2016 to help local workplaces, organisations and businesses get fit, active and healthy. Last year, the Workplace Challenge was launched in January across 29 counties in England. Northamptonshire saw over 600 individuals from over 130 different workplaces take part.

Individuals and workplaces competed in the Activity Log whereby participants can log their levels of sport, physical activity and active travel to compete with other workplaces, colleagues and friends. Any activity logged generates points which contribute to the leader board. The more activity you do, the more points you get – and points mean prizes!

As well as the Activity Log, the Competition Programme is provided includes a variety of inter-workplace sports on offer. All events are low cost, with no experience necessary and have an emphasis on fun! Competitions already open for bookings are Table Tennis, Netball and Canoe Slalom. Dates for Badminton, Wheelchair Basketball, Archery and many more will be open for bookings in due course.

The challenge is completely free of charge and is there to help you log your progress. You can register online, see competition dates and book online at:

20,000,000 Steps - We are the fifth fattest county in the country. We are determined to tackle this issue by increasing the amount of physical exercise and activity undertaken across the county.

Will you ‘Step’ up to the Challenge? - To kick off this work we will be supporting the countywide challenge to complete 20 million steps across a weekend in September 2016 (date to be confirmed). We are challenging families, community groups, businesses and societies to use this weekend to complete a walking challenge.
