Corby Outdoors Festival
Corby Outdoors Festival. It’s not just about walking – Happy 10th anniversary!
Corby Outdoors Festival is in its 10th annual year will be taking place from 28 May – 3 June this year. A wider range of outdoor activities will be offered, including cycling and running. This year will also be particularly exciting as we are also teaming up with the borough’s hugely successful Cycle Fest event, which is in its 3rd year, to offer even more great opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors across the borough.
The walking programme will continue to be an important part of the Festival itinerary for the week and there will be lots of opportunities to sample and appreciate some of the borough’s beautiful countryside and urban woodland areas.
The Festival will kick off with a free Family Fun Day on Monday 28 May at East Carlton Country Park, 12noon – 4pm organised by the Festival’s beneficiary charity Lakelands Day Care Hospice. Join in the family fun with archery, bouncy castles, face painting, children’s rides and much more! And if your dog deserves a Crufts style accolade, enter them into the Lakelands Dog Show!
For those who want more of an adrenaline rush, challenge yourself to the Lakelands Firewalk event on Friday 31 May. Visit www.lakelandshospice.org.uk or the Lakelands facebook page for more information.
Cllr Paul Beattie, Corby Borough Council member champion for Cycling and Walking said: ‘I’m pleased to be supporting this event. Corby borough is rich in open spaces in the town itself and also has the magnificent Rockingham Forest and Welland Valley on its doorstep. The Festival showcases the fact that you don’t have to travel far to get active outdoors and enjoy one of our parks or woodland areas, like our medieval Kingswood. It‘s a great way to gain health benefits at the same time.’
