You can make a request for environmental information in one of the following ways:-
You can write to:
Freedom of Information
Corby Borough Council
The Corby Cube
Your request will be completed within 20 working days. However, if the request is considered complex and voluminous, it can be extended to 40 days.
In some cases a fee may be charged, but you will be notified in advance if this is the case.
Sometimes the information cannot be released due to the need to protect the environment, for example the locations of rare birds. If this is the case, the Council will inform you of the reasons why.
For further information about the Environmental Information Regulations, please click on the following link to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) website http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2004/3391/contents/made.
You will not normally be charged for making an EIR request, but if Corby Borough Council estimates that gathering the information costs more than £450.00 (which equates to 18 hours), then your request will be refused. You will however be given the opportunity to narrow down your request or pay the cost of gathering the information.
You may also be charged for any necessary copying and postage charges in sending the information to you. Where a fee is charged in respect of this, you will be advised and it will be necessary to pay this fee before the information is released. If the fee is not paid within three months of the original request, the request will be considered lapsed.
The supply of documents under the EIR is protected by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1998. You do not have an automatic right to re-use the information for commercial gain (e.g. by making multiple copies, publishing, and issuing copies to the public without permission of the Council).
