Local Housing Allowance rates 2015 – 2016

Local Housing Allowance rates will be fixed for a 12 month period from 01/04/2015 - 31/03/2016.

For the purpose of establishing the Local Housing Allowance Rate, we have to work out the room level your family needs.

You are entitled to one bedroom for:

  • every adult couple (married or unmarried)
  • any other adult aged 16 or over
  • any two children of the same sex aged under 16
  • any two children regardless of sex aged under 10
  • any other child.

However if you share your accommodation you may only be entitled to a shared room rate unless you need more rooms for your family. If you are single, under 35, have no children and are not classified as severely disabled, YOU WILL BE entitled to a SHARED ACCOMMODATION rate, even if you do not share.

The maximum Local Housing Allowance rate you can receive is a 4 bedroom rate.
