Corby Borough Council has been awarded £115,000 from central government to help in their continued efforts to get homeless people off the street.
The funding, which was granted by Central Government’s Communities Secretary, Rt Hon James Brokenshire MP, as part of the £100m Rough Sleeping Strategy, will be put towards an array of projects, which will include engagement with rough sleepers to get them into suitable accommodation. Members of Corby Borough Council’s One Corby Policy Committee will discuss and agree a way forward at a meeting in May 2019.
Corby Borough Council’s Lead Member for Housing and Neighbourhood Services, Cllr Bob Eyles, said:
“This is welcome news and we now look forward to using this funding in the most effective way we can. Corby Borough Council has regular engagement with rough sleepers and thanks to the successful bid we can now look at finding ways in which we can help these people to the best of our ability.”
