Please see following information regarding council service changes due to the severe weather conditions:
Council offices and the One Stop Shop will be shutting today (Friday 2nd March) at 4pm.
Lodge Park Sports Centre will be shutting today (Friday 2nd March) at 9pm and Corby East Midlands International Pool will be shutting at 7.30pm.
Over the past week during severe weather conditions, Corby Borough Council in partnership with Kier Street Services has endeavoured to continue with the kerbside refuse and recycling service as normal.
However, due to the dangerous conditions of the roads it has been necessary to suspend some of our collections. The current weather forecast is for poor conditions to remain until Saturday, with conditions improving from Sunday onwards.
To tackle the backlog of refuse and recycling collections that have been missed this week, a decision has been made to suspend green waste collections that are due to be completed from Monday 5th – Friday 9th March 2018.
This will allow this resource to be deployed to collect the refuse, food waste and recycling collections that have been missed. Therefore if your bin has been missed this week please leave them out for collection every day next week from Monday until collected. Side waste for those collections that have been missed will be collected on this occasion.
All food waste, brown and black bin collections due next week should be presented on their normal scheduled collection day.
Bulky waste services, will be reviewed next week and customers collections will be re-booked at that time. New bookings will not be taken until the service is running normally.
Clinical waste collections will be made as normal.
Any further information will be published on Corby Borough Council’s website page, www.corby.gov.uk and our Twitter accounts @recyleforcorby and @CorbyBC, as and when it becomes available.
Out of Hours Emergency Repairs:
As is understandable we have had an extremely high amount of calls for repair requests for heating systems, far more than is typical even in winter and of course directly related to the sustained exceptionally low temperatures. On top of the high demand, the travel conditions are also making getting around to customers a slow and difficult process.
Given the forecast we do expect more repair reports over the weekend. We have increased our capacity to deal with these emergencies and would advise our council tenants to contact our Out of Hours number 01536 400088.
Corby Borough Council prioritise vulnerable households and will provide alternative heating to vulnerable tenants until their heating is fixed.
Saturday’s Councillor Surgery:
It has been agreed that the Saturday Surgery is cancelled tomorrow morning (3rd March).
Any customers who were intending to attend on Saturday should contact (01536) 464015 or firstname.lastname@example.org and their query will be picked-up on Monday morning.
