Corby Borough Council’s Annual Council meeting due to take place on Thursday 20th May 2020, has been rescheduled to later in the year.
Following the Government’s temporary changes in legislation to lift the obligation on each authority to hold an Annual Council in May each year, it was deemed appropriate under the current circumstances to put the Annual Council meeting on hold. The meeting will instead take place later in the year.
As a result, this means that current arrangements will stay in place until the Annual Council is held, and all councillors currently holding positions of office e.g. Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Leader, Chair etc will remain in situ. If any vacancies occur in the interim these will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
The Council is currently looking to commence holding committee meetings before the end of May. Meetings will only be called where there is an essential business need or legal obligation to do so. Until further notice all meetings will be held virtually, as allowed by emergency legislation, and those open to the public will be streamed live.
