Following consultation, Corby Borough Council has now formally adopted the Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) which outlines the approach to planning obligations when considering applications for development in the Borough.
The SPD has undergone a period of public consultation through March and April 2017. The document sets out planning obligations that are negotiated between local authorities and developers in the context of granting planning permission. These planning obligations provide a means to ensure that a proposed development contributes to the provision of necessary infrastructure, services and facilities required by national and local planning policies.
Corby Borough Council’s Head of Planning and Environmental Services, Iain Smith, said:
‘The aim of this SPD is to provide clarity and guidance for developers, build on the policies in the Joint Core Strategy and direct developers to the documents and requirements provided by Northamptonshire County Council and other infrastructure providers. It seeks to ensure the timely delivery of infrastructure, services and facilities to meet the needs of the Borough and support sustainable development.’
