Kye Bishop - West Glebe Manager

UFD Sport and Exercise Science

Kye was appointed in September 2008 having previously worked as Assistant Manager of an on-site sports facility at Northampton General Hospital. In that period Kye co-ordinated a number of programmes, including setting up a mobile after-school gym club and developing a programme of activities for various mental health facilities.  Kye graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in sport and exercise science and is now the leader of the Corby Community Sport and Skills Initiative.  The key partners funding the project are Sport England and Northamptonshire PCT and Corby Borough Council.  Kye, along with a team of coaches and instructors, will be responsible for delivering new, low cost, inclusive and accessible sports and physical activities within local Community Centres in Corby. The project intends to access currently inactive people who are unwilling or unable to attend a mainstream sports facility or club by removing identified barriers to participation such as cost, time, transport or lack of confidence. The project will also fund a programme of sports qualifications and skills training for local community members which would then enable the activity sessions to become self-sustaining.  Some of the courses that will be provided are Community Sports Leader Award, National Governing Body Level 1 & 2, YMCA Exercise to Music, Walk Leader Training and First Aid.

For more information about the project please call Kye on 07778 868367 or via email on kye.bishop@corby.gov.uk
