Minor injuries Unit
The Corby Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) based at the Diagnostic Centre on Cottingham Road, is an efficient local walk-in service for people who have suffered from a range of minor injuries including:
- Minor burns
- And (because of the X-ray facilities) fractures
The minor injury and x-ray services have also been extended to match the existing opening hours of the Urgent Care Centre so people will benefit of opening times from 8am-8pm seven days a week.
No appointment is necessary to either the Minor Injuries or Urgent Medical Condition Services but patients will be seen in order of clinical priority, so may have to wait if their condition is not as serious as others.
The Corby Urgent Care Centre is open 8am-8pm, every day of the year. It is located on Willowbrook Health Complex, Cottingham Road, Corby NN17 2UR.
The new centre brings a range of benefits to patients including a single point of access to urgent care services, reducing the need for patients to travel to A&E. There is a range of diagnostics available including an x-ray department with extended opening hours and short-term observation bays - again so patients do not need to travel to a hospital for these services.
Partners involved include NHS Corby Clinical Commissioning Group, NHS Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire, Kettering General Hospital, Lakeside Plus, Lakeside Surgery and Corby Borough Council, Kier Construction and Maber Architects.
If you are unsure what service to use or need advice, call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47.
Any urgent problems occurring outside the Minor Injuries Unit’s opening hours should be referred to the Nights Evenings and Weekends Service at the Keydoc Centre, Kettering, by calling 01536 522955.
