Corby’s Pillar of Community Safety is revealed

Community safety messages will be highly visible in Corby from Thursday 30th September 2010 as Corby Community Safety Partnership launches the installation of two large public information pillars in the Borough.

Asda supermarket and Oakley Vale’s shopping area on Butland Road are the two prime positions chosen to home the pillars in order to grab the attention of local residents and capture the most footfall.

The public information pillars will be used to hold information about the Community Safety Partnership and how to contact them, raise awareness of campaigns such as alcohol reduction and will highlight successful outcomes from the community safety work carried out in Corby.

The pillars will remain in a static position but Corby Borough Council and the Police will be able to change the messages, updating the information to reflect relevant issues within the community.

At Asda the pillar will be in English, however the same information will be translated into several different languages at Oakley Vale to include Corby’s growing diverse community in the initiative.

Leader of Corby Borough Council, Cllr Pat Fawcett, said:

‘Our Community Safety Partnership in Corby is second to none and is always thinking of new and creative ways to communicate with residents.

‘The pillars are a great way to get the attention of many shoppers and will provide them with the information they need to help them feel safer and stronger in their community.’
