About ‘Reach Out’
Formerly known as Corby Community Sport and Skills Initiative, ‘Reach Out’ is a 3 year joint funded initiative currently being rolled across communities in Corby.
This joint funded initiative between Corby Borough Council, Northamptonshire PCT and Sport England aims to….
- Increase participation in sport and physical activity in priority groups who are currently inactive within Corby.
- Improve health by increasing the number of people who take regular physical activity.
- Develop a sustainable sports and physical activity programme through the development of skills within the community.
The project will target priority groups identified by the Active Peoples Survey in Corby, namely women, older people (+45yrs) and people on low incomes.

Coach Scholarship Scheme in Corby
As part of the brand new ‘Reach Out’ project being run by CBC Sports Development, you could be eligible to receive funding of up to UP TO 75% of a sport specific Level 1 or above sport specific coaching qualification.
For coaches living or coaching in the Borough of Corby, PRIORITY will be given:
• To coaches working volunteering with in Corby
• To coaches delivering sport specific, multi sports or multi skills activities
• To coaches contributing to one of the aims of the scheme, which are:
To increase participation in sports
To improve levels of performance in sport
Are you eligible?
If you match the following criteria then you could apply for this source of funding.
• If you are actively coaching but do not hold the relevant National Governing Body level 1 qualification
• If you have identified a need to progress to a higher National Governing Body qualification
• If you are actively coaching activities which will benefit local communities
• If you live or coach within Corby
• Both paid and voluntary coaches are eligible to apply for funding
In return you are required to fulfil a log of coaching sessions you undertake 6 months after completion of the course. This log will include such items as; the age group, number of participants, gender of participants, location and the sport.
Payment of Scholarship
You will receive the payment upon successfully completing the course and the submission of proof of completing the qualification. A cheque will then be sent directly to the address you provide us with.
