Schools Recycling Scheme
The schools recycling scheme offers schools a package to help collect and recycle a variety of materials straight from the classroom. This is a schools recycling scheme that is available to all LAA funded schools in Northamptonshire. Participating schools get several collection bins to place in their classrooms and offices as well as a range of other media and resources. Schools are encouraged to log their weights on the Slim Your Bin @ School website and can compete to win monthly prizes.
The scheme is operated by the Waste Education Team at the County Council, however all collections will be undertaken by your local district and borough council. If you have any queries regarding what materials can be collected or collection schedules please contact your collection authority directly.
- Waste Education Bus
The Waste Education Bus can be booked to visit your school and deliver a lesson tailored to your needs.
- Waste Education Centre
The WEC is based in the centre of Northampton and shows children what happens to their rubbish once it leaves their house.
- Waste Education Officer
A fully qualified teacher is available to visit all schools to deliver assemblies, lessons and workshops tailored to your school's needs.
The Slim Your Bin at School project aims to reduce the volume of rubbish sent to landfill and increase the amount of waste that is recycled and reused in the county through education. Taught sessions can be tailored to the National Curriculum.
