Artist impression of the new Corby Cube building 

See above a new artist's impression of the new Corby Cube (click on image to enlarge), which is currently being built by Galliford Try plc for Corby Borough Council. The project has been funded by Corby Borough Council, the Homes and Communities Agency, East Midlands Development Agency (emda), the Department of Communities and Local Government and Northamptonshire County Council, in partnership with North Northants Development Company.

Hawkins\Brown is the architectural practice behind the design for the Cube, which has already garnered international acclaim and was runner-up to the Beijing Olympic Swimming Pool in the prestigious 2007 LEAF Awards for the Best Public Building Design of the Year.

The six-floor civic building has a concrete structure and four glass sides and is set in high quality open space forming a new town square. The building is of high design quality and meets the demanding BREEAM Excellence standard for sustainability.

Facilities include:

  • 445-seat walnut-clad theatre with curved retractable seating system providing the opportunity for flexible flat floor auditorium.
  • Additional arts and studio space
  • Library
  • Bistro
  • Council one-stop-shop and offices
  • Council chamber and marriage room
  • Terraced roof garden
